FLOOR PLANS- START DEVELOPMENT PHASE

This is a top view of my building floor plans in wireframe mode, showing how my concept is carried across my building design in the exterior and interior.

A longitudinal section-looking west. My idea is to leave the first four levels partly open to create a welcoming and admirable entrance. The auditorium or church nave, which I think is the most important space of my building would be kind of pending from the top. the rest of the floors above auditorium would be divided in room which would serve for church and community purposes. on the top floor, I've decided to put the pastor's residential apartment with some guess rooms.

Building Concept_B

...after a few days of thinking and research, I decided work on a new building concept that would be more architectural so that i could see what other option i have. I used the contour lines to determine the height of each floor. Plus this concept gives me the opportunity to have outdoor spaces for balconies and green roofs.

Building Concept_A

This is my first building concept which is more like a mass that has been eroded by wind and as a result i have the building outside form.

Developing Building Concept

This is the beginning phase of my mass being eroded by the wind.

Site Wind Analysis

Based on the wind research I've done, most of the wind is coming from the north direction. Great part of the wind comes from the northeast but there is also some wind coming from the northwest.

Wind Research

This wind research will help me determine some of the characteristics and wind forces that will affect building mass .

Wind Study

Below is a sample of wind speed and wind direction study made in the EPA wind tunnel model of lower Manhattan.

Design Development

As shown in my previous concept wind is shaping objects in our environment. The same way I want wind to be the major factor that would sort of erode and sculpture the mass shown, which is based on the allowable zoning envelope and give shape to my building.

Redefined Concept

My previous concept parti was more about showing wind, this new parti is more redefined and more presice, its about the effects of wind on a certain object.

MASS MODELS

Some mass models I made of my last sketches to get a better perspective.

SKETCHES

I made some sketches of what I have in mind so far. I will keep working in new ideas and come up with more concepts.

MY CONCEPT

The concept for my building is going to be wind. Wind is moving air, it could take any shape. The power of wind its amazing. It can shape our enviroment and also provide us great benefits.

MY SITE

The site I chose to work on is Manhattan, Peck Slip Its a great location to use my ideas and my concept to develop my design

question?

1. which building typology are you researching?

I'm going to be researching different type of buildings such as school, residential buildings, churches, community buildings, civic building, museums, etc.

2. why are researching this building typology?

My goal is to combine the function of those buildings and put it into one to create a efficent building that would serve as a church and also provide different services for the community.

3. what is the specialty of this building type you would like to research... ?

I want to know the kind of programs i could take from those buildings and incorporate it into my building. Im also looking for new innovate, eco-friendly technologies used in the buildings.

4. what are the samples that you will be researching...?
